Right now I’m very angry at poker!

February 06, 2010 :: Posted by - Naishster :: Category - A Poker Amateurs Confessions

Why am I angry? Bloody poker! God I hate online poker at times!

Just played in a SnG at full tilt poker and guess what? I’m down to the last four people and my laptop decides to crash on me. Fantastic!  I think it was because movie 2K was running under another user while I was playing so the pokertracker3, camtasia studio, full tilt poker and all that other stuff running just overloaded it.

That’s the last time I let my girlfriends daughter watch Alvin and the chipmunks. Stinking, annoying rodents! I’m so angry at the chipmunks right now, especially Alvin.

Anyway, the consolation was I still got 2nd place somehow so its not all bad. Also got a nice chunk of rakeback from all the games I played last week so the bankroll is looking better again.

Full Tilt tournament: 138012885

Invested on the day: $2.25

Overall win: $5.40

Profit/Loss on the day: +$3.15

Current bankroll: $69.51 (including a tasty sum of $4.28 rakeback)

Profit since $30.00 initial deposit: $39.51

Target: Build 30 buy ins for the $5.00 + $0.50 games. 30 x $5.50 = $165.00.

Rakeback since original $30 deposit: $8.18

Thoughts: Don’t have too much stuff running on your computer when playing poker because you want to put your TV screen through when your holding top pair with an open ended straight and your in the pot with the chip leader who is over aggressive all the time and betting into you and then it crashes.

Rakeback really is showing a difference to my bankroll now as you can see. If none of you guys have it the opportunity to get your rakeback is here.

Just played one hold em game tonight, got 2nd place. Rakeback is on the way!

February 05, 2010 :: Posted by - Naishster :: Category - A Poker Amateurs Confessions

Spent less time playing hold em and more time on the site today

Got a second place result though so its good. All adds up and the bankroll is slowly building again, back to double the original deposit. Good that I can play just one game of holdem and get some cash in a night and not have to start chasing a loss.

Here’s the video:

Invested on the day: $2.25

Overall win: $5.40

Profit/Loss on the day: +$3.15

Current bankroll: $62.08

Profit since $30.00 initial deposit: $32.08

Target: Build 30 buy ins for the $5.00 + $0.50 games. 30 x $5.50 = $165.00.

Thoughts: Don’t push all in with a queen high.

Rakeback coming tomorrow, should up my bankroll a little more. :-)

Two first place wins at the same time. God I love poker sometimes!

February 04, 2010 :: Posted by - Naishster :: Category - A Poker Amateurs Confessions

played 7 SnG’s before these two and lost so didn’t really make much of a profit but what a great result when I’m filming it eh?

Take a look:

Invested on the day: $15.75

Overall win: $18.00

Profit/Loss on the day: +$2.25

Current bankroll: $58.93

Profit since $30.00 initial deposit: $28.93

Target: Build 30 buy ins for the $5.00 + $0.50 games. 30 x $5.50 = $165.00.

Thoughts: Must be concentrating more towards the end of a nights play, always seems like I’m getting the wins late on. Hmm . . . .

After last nights post . . . .

February 02, 2010 :: Posted by - Naishster :: Category - A Poker Amateurs Confessions

I did played that last game of poker, I lost so I played another one.

Came 6th i the first 18 man SnG, should have got in the money but in a dumb move I pushed all in on the cutoff with 88 and got called by A J. (or similar) He caught and I was out. Got 1st place in a 9 person after so it’s a small creep up in my bankroll which is sorely needed at the moment. Here’s the video:

Invested on the day: $4.50

Overall win: $9.00

Profit/Loss on the day: +$4.50

Current bankroll: $56.68

Profit since $30.00 initial deposit: $26.68

Target: Build 30 buy ins for the $5.00 + $0.50 games. 30 x $5.50 = $165.00.

Thought: Playing a hell of a lot tighter at the start of the games now. Hope this will do the trick and get me back on track.

Allsorts!

February 02, 2010 :: Posted by - Naishster :: Category - A Poker Amateurs Confessions

Since the last I wrote been playing in all sorts, 9 person, 18 person, 27 person and 180 person SnG’s. How did I get on? . . . . .The word ‘dung’ springs to mind..

Must have played in about 3 dozen games at least, been too lazy to video any and not played too great either. (Nothing new there then lately) I cheated and broke my cardinal rule of not playing over the $2.00 + $0.25 limit and played in two $5.00 + $0.50 18 man SnG’s. Yes, I am incredibly ashamed of myself but i did came third for an $18 prize in the last one, the last two guys are still battling it out as I type.

Current bankroll is at $52.18, including $0.47 rakeback. about $26.00 down on my last update. My dreams are getting shattered! lol

Ah well, back to the grind. one more 18 man then I’m off to bed, I’ll record this one and post it tomorrow if its not a load of crap.

Not good, again! not too bad though either considering.

January 28, 2010 :: Posted by - Naishster :: Category - A Poker Amateurs Confessions

Thank god for bankroll management or I’d be back to my old ways.

Played in 9 SnG’s tonight, only placed in two of them. Got a 1st place and a 2nd place. They eased the blow of losing in the other 7 but its still a loss.

When I used to play before this challenge to turn $30 into as much as possible I would have entered bigger buy in tournaments, I would have probably lost my bankroll by now or close to it. Sticking by the bankroll management plan plan has helped me minimize the losses though.

As you can see from the Pokertracker3 graph below things are not disastrous. Obviously not happy with recent results though. Looking at the bigger picture the graph is still moving upwards. Just hope these losses don’t continue or its back to the drawing board.

Not bitching but this is how I went out on some of the games.

Hit a set of 2’s and got all my money in. Another guy had hit a set of 3’s. Turn and river were a 3 and 2 giving us both quads. Sick loss. (tournament 135732632)

Put in a 4 x BB raise (640 chips) when I was the short stack with Ah Kh and got called, Flop: 3s Qh 3h. got my remaining money (950 chips) all in looking to either force a fold, hit the nut flush or one of my overcards hitting (roughly a 52% chance I believe) but it didn’t happen. Flop & turn: 9c 10s. The guy called both bets with a pair of 2’s. hmmph!( Tournament 135721578)

Somebody raised, I pushed with the small stack holding Ac 10c, got called by the raiser who was holding Jc Kd. He hit a pair of jacks. (Tournament 135682893)

Short stack again, raised with Ks Jd, got called by 2 players. Flop: 4s 2h Js. I bet 280 into a 380 pot, get reraised and call. turn is: 6s. I got top pair and the 2nd nut flush draw so i push in my remaining 830 chips into the 1500 pot. He calls with Qc Jh i have him . . . until the queen hits the river. *sigh* (Tournament 135679340)

Granted, the rest were my fault. lol

Looks like I need to examine why I’m getting into the short stack position so often. Aggression in the wrong places or against the wrong people I think. Need to kerb that.

Invested on the day: $20.25

Overall loss: $5.45

Profit/Loss on the day: -$9.00

Current bankroll: $78.91

Profit since $30.00 initial deposit: $48.91

Target: Build 30 buy ins for the $5.00 + $0.50 games. 30 x $5.50 = $165.00.

Couple of days off now. Try again on the weekend when there are plenty of bad players on. Get a few wins under my belt and restore some confidence hopefully.

Bad day, Don’t want to talk about it!

January 27, 2010 :: Posted by - Naishster :: Category - A Poker Amateurs Confessions

Horrible day, seems like I just can’t win. Time to give up on it for tonight.

Four straight losses, played badly, no excuse. Too aggressive and playing hands too far, even when I thought I had the best I seem to run into something bigger. Probably just my p**sed off view though. Setting a limit from now on, if I hit 3 straight losses I’m quitting for the night or at least taking a good break. No point playing when your miffed about things.

Invested on the day: $11.25

Overall loss: $9.00

Profit/Loss on the day: -$9.00

Current bankroll: $84.76

Profit since $30.00 initial deposit: $54.76

Target: Build 30 buy ins for the $5.00 + $0.50 games. 30 x $5.50 = $165.00.

AAAAAAAAAAAARGH!!!

Ah well, there will be days like this, no doubt about that! Tomorrow is another day.

Five games. 9th, 7th, 9th, 3rd and 1st.

January 26, 2010 :: Posted by - Naishster :: Category - A Poker Amateurs Confessions

Lost three in a row then made 3rd and 1st to win back my money. Look me up on Topshark’s ranking tool to see

Really bad start to the day, three straight losses. (certainly broke my winning streak!) I did manage to get two cash wins under my belt before hitting the sheets so that turned a disastrous day into a small profit thankfully.

I think I was just getting a little cocky after my four straight 1st placings, wasn’t watching the other players properly and made moves in all the wrong places at too early a stage in the game. Second two games were much better, before I started I got myself a cuppa and chilled out to get the frustration of the first three out of my head. Seemed to work.

Videos are out the window for the moment, new recording software and its bloody complicated so I’m still figuring it out.

These are the tournament numbers if you wanna check up on me on the Topshark poker ranking tool. ;-)

135188758: 9th place (Disgusting!)

135262155: 7th place (Disgusting!)

135265614: 9th place (Disgusting!)

135267385: 3rd place (Acceptable)

135285476: 1st place (Back on track and saved my skin from a losing day!)

Invested on the day: $11.25

Overall winnings: $12.60

Profit/Loss on the day: +$1.35

Current bankroll: $93.76

Profit since $30.00 initial deposit: $63.76

Target: Build 30 buy ins for the $5.00 + $0.50 games. 30 x $5.50 = $165.00.

Thoughts: Just because your winning regularly doesn’t mean you can just go through the motions. Still need to keep concentration and watch what people are doing around the table so you have a better idea of how, when or if you should interact with them.

Would you believe it? Fourth straight 1st place win. Awesome!

January 24, 2010 :: Posted by - Naishster :: Category - A Poker Amateurs Confessions

I only went and did it again! Four straight wins in a row.

Looking good, just one problem. It didn’t record so no video. :-( Fortunately I can replay of the hands from my re-player which by the way is free to download if your interested in getting the same re-player yourself. Download it HERE. Will update this post as soon as the video is ready.

It was a real difficult game, I was right down to 250 chips after making a couple of questionable (OK, one was bad!) plays but managed to battle all the way back to win it. A good example of not giving up when the odds are against you.

Full tilt poker tournament: 134364319

Invested on the day: $2.25

Overall winnings: $9.00

Profit/Loss on the day (so far): $6.75

Current bankroll: $92.41 (including $0.20 rakeback since this game)

Trebled the original deposit, great!

Profit since $30.00 initial deposit: $62.41

Rakeback since original $30 deposit: $3.90

Target: Build 30 buy ins for the $5.00 + $0.50 games. 30 x $5.50 = $165.00.

3 in a row, Who’s your daddy?

January 21, 2010 :: Posted by - Naishster :: Category - A Poker Amateurs Confessions, Poker video blog

Third 1st place win in a row! yeah, I know nobody’s watchin’ yet but I’m lovin’ it anyway.

Here’s the video, very easy game. Seemed like I was hitting all the time. Even when I was bluffing there was not much resistance put up. Made it to be the big stack pretty early on and the guy on the right of me just kept giving me walks when I was the BB. Easy money!

Invested on the day: $2.25

Overall winnings: $9.00

Profit/Loss on the day(s): $6.75

Current bankroll: $85.46

Profit since $30.00 initial deposit: $55.46
