Back from the xmas break

December 29, 2009 :: Posted by - Naishster :: Category - A Poker Amateurs Confessions

Sorry for the lack of posts lately guys and girls, been a busy xmas time and with my birthday thrown in on the 27th its been a bit manic to say the least!

Did play a game a couple of weeks back and made a video of it, unfortunately i cant upload it because the file is so large. Been looking for a site that allows you to upload large files and link to them but no luck there either.

Anyways, the game I played was a second place result.

the usual setup on a single table $2 + $0.25 NLHE. Tournament No: 125080651

Invested on the day: $2.25

Overall winnings: $5.40

Profit/Loss on the day: +$3.15

Also gained $0.34 in rake back at the end of that week bringing my current bankroll to: $65.39

No idea how the game played but i know i lost in the end pushing with not such a great hand because i was the smaller stack.

Hope to get a few games in now the madness of Xmas is over.

Happy new year to you all by the way, hope your poker is profitable in the coming year. :-)

Just for those of you curious about how I’m doing heres a Poker tracker 3 graph showing my last 76 tournaments. as you can see, must be doing something right lately compared to my previous play.

Monday morning, bored. Time for a game.

December 14, 2009 :: Posted by - Naishster :: Category - A Poker Amateurs Confessions

Not played for a couple of days cos my girlfriends been over for the weekend. She left at a little over 2 hours ago and I couldn’t get back to sleep. (07:40 here) So, what should I do on a Monday morning on a day off work? Play poker, what else!

Been credited 0.57c rakeback which brings my bankroll to $60.55. Back to double my deposit. :-)

Trying to figure out a way to upload some vids of me playing at the moment or at least post a link to vids hosted at another site until I sort out something better without having to spend loads of cash on a program. Any recommendations people?

Anyway, lets get a game on the go and see how it works.

Going with a $2 single table NLHE, seems to be working for me at the moment. At least if I’m not drinking.

Full Tilt Tournament No: 124932681

$2+$0.25 NLHE Single table SnG

Pretty tough game, made 3rd but wasn’t overly happy with my play. Got lucky to take someone out who pushed all in when i was stealing their BB. Should never have made the call but I thought they were just re-stealing.

Very hard time stealing the blinds when we were down to the last 3. Good play on the part of the other players at the table, particularly the guy to my left who didn’t seem to put a foot wrong with when to re-raise me and when to fold. (Am I giving a timing tell? something to check on.)

Invested today: $2.25

Overall winnings: $3.60

Profit/Loss on the day (so far, may play again later): +$1.35

Current bankroll: $61.90

Thoughts:
1)Made a dum call again, need to watch that even though its probably the play that won me enough chips to carry me through to third place.
2)Perhaps not aggressive enough when i was getting re-raised in the late stages but that could also be put down to good play on the part of other players. Might have been beat on several occasions but I didn’t risk finding out and that may have been a mistake against two larger aggressive stacks.
3)Need to work on my narrating skills, I suck.

Made a vid for you guys but it was garbage, my web cam image embedded on the vid was just totally pixelated and the sound was ahead of what was going on at the table so I decided not to put it up. Working on it though. Hopefully soon I’ll find a solution.

Yes, I’m breaking the golden rule and playing after drinking! What you gonna do about it? Come on . . . it was only about 10 measures, No problem right?

Full Tilt Poker Tournament No: 123594255

oh, i missed that 1, hang on . . . . .

123559829 no, its 123595829. sorry.

usual setup, NLHE $2+$0.25 single table. (Why is there 18 people at this table? hmmm. never mind. i got dealt 2 pair so I’m laughing.)

Initial thoughts: Played 2 hands, they are all stupid.

More thoughts: 11th hand in, played 0 hands . . . getting an itchy index finger.

And more: Luckily got dealt 2 good hands on the 13th and 14th and pulled in about 300 chips. Helped keep the drunken bluff monster at bay. Even folded a JK and JQ into raised pots, pat on the back.

More again: Hand 30. This table is full of psychos! Everyone is raising everywhere. I’m confused. Wait for the aces . . wait for the aces.

another update: Wheres my f**kin aces?

More: 55th hand. All in on the small blind with 1100 chips & J2, BB called with KQs fortunately I hit trip 2’s. Yes!

Update: Lost to a guy who kept raising my BB, i put an all in on him with Q6s seems he wasn’t bluffing this time and had KQ or AQ or something. Anyway I lost. Happy? 5th place. 1 more game then bedtime, what the hell! Day off tomorrow. Just pour a brandy 1st though . . . .

OK . . .

Full Tilt Tournament No: 123608013
NLHE $2+$0.25 single table and all that jazz. Hope this isn’t full of nutters, that’s why i lost the last one.

I lost again.

Invested today (update from previous post): $6.75

Overall winnings: $9.00

Win/Loss on the day: +$2.25

Current bankroll: $59.98

Thoughts:
1)Get as drunk as you like as long as you win enough to cover your losses before you start drinking, otherwise don’t play drunk.

German Toilets?

December 08, 2009 :: Posted by - Naishster :: Category - A Poker Amateurs Confessions

Here I go again, day 2 of posting . . . .

Full Tilt Tournament No: 123551074

$2+$0.25 NLHE Single table SnG

Tight game, 45 hands in and still 8 players at the table. VP$IP of the players 2, 15, 10, 18 (me) 12, 49, 7, 49. think i’ll be doing a lot of raising when the looser players are out of the hand . . . .

Pulled in a 1st place after a tough heads up, getting aggressive while there were 5/6 players left bought me a lot of extra chips to deal with the players when we were down to 3. Not bad players at all at the table just too tight and let me gain a chip lead because of it that let me dominate the table later on to steal more chips again.

Invested today: $2.25

Overall winnings: $9.00

Profit/Loss on the day (so far, may play again later): +$6.75

Current bankroll: $64.48 (doubled initial deposit + $4.48, Yaaaaa!)

Thoughts:
1)Take a tight table by the balls and take more risks, avoid the loose players when you do this and be prepared to lay down just about any hand when you get called or re-raised.

Other daily thoughts:
1)Why the hell do toilets in Germany have a big flat piece that you have to take a dump on? Its so much easier when it just drops straight into water! No cleaning skid marks off the pan after your finished so your visitors don’t think your a grotty, unclean tramp. There’s even a little well in the toilet that has a bit of water in it so that you have to get your fingers wet while your mopping up the stray feces. nightmare!
2)Do any other countries have this sick toilet system? if yes why?
3)Water costs a fortune in Germany, you pay for water coming in and water going out. The toilet manufacturers are in cahoots with the water board in this country, they know u have to flush several times after trying to remove your crap from the pan and then you have to wash your hands. Its the great German water/toilet scam.

Tip: Place a couple of pieces of toilet paper in the pan when using German toilets before you drop your guts, it saves you having to clean up quite so much streaky matter although it does cost you extra in toilet roll it may decrease your water bill.

here we go . . . .

December 08, 2009 :: Posted by - Naishster :: Category - A Poker Amateurs Confessions

So, after a hard 2 months of moving house I finally get off my (not so) fat butt and start posting.

Started off putting $30 into my full tilt account on the 13th Nov, so far built it up to $56.83 with a little help from rakeback. mainly been playing in $1 or $2 SnG single table game as I’ve been strapped for time with all the extra work at home but i think I was losing beforehand because I was playing 3/4 tables at once and it just wasn’t working for me, cant concentrate on the subtleties.

So . . 1 game for today which I’m just about to play, then its off to bed ready for work tomorrow . . . .

Here’s how it went:-

Full Tilt Tournament 123334290
NL hold em $2+$0.25 single table SnG

Out after about the 5th hand, called with JKo hit two top pair with a board J K 10 rainbow. First player of 3 remaining in pot bet 70, I re-raised to 210 and was re-raised by the third player. 1st player went all in after him, me and the 3rd player called. Just like I knew was gonna happen with at least one of them they both had hit straights. Need I bother to tell you I didn’t hit the full house I was praying for when I saw their cards. lol. Gotta learn to lay down the hand in that position but I let curiosity/stupidity get the better of me.

Time for 1 more cos I played 1 hand so dum so soon on that game . . . .

Same game type/stake, tournament 123338169.

Better result with a 2nd place to win $5.40 Veeery aggressive table, did what I dont normally like to do and checked what I thought was the best hand a few times which paid off due to the aggressive nature of the table, got bet into every time and they called the reraises. I think it also served to make them wary of my checks later on in the game so they were tending not to bluff so often when we were down to the last few.

Finally lost my stack on a QQ. (off suit. lol) Respectable hand to go out on.

invested today: $4.50

Overall winnings: $5.40

win/loss on the day: +$0.90

Current bankroll: $57.73

Thoughts:
1)Could have been a better payday if it weren’t for my dumb ass call in the 1st game. Lesson learned.
2)Nearly doubled initial deposit. Yaaay!
3)Dont call an all in with 2 pair against 2 opponents when there’s a possibility of someones hand making a straight on the damn board!
